Strawberry Ice Cream

Fresh Strawberries & Frozen

The strawberry is widely consumed, either fresh or in jam, juice, pies, ice cream, milkshakes, and chocolates.

The strawberry is not technically a berry from a botanical point of view. The fleshy fruit is actually the receptacle that holds the ovaries. Each seed on the outside of the fruit is actually one of the ovaries of the flower, with a seed inside it.

In addition to being eaten fresh, strawberries may be frozen or made into jam or preserves, as well as dried and used in prepared foods, such as cereal snack bars. Strawberries are a popular addition to dairy products, such as milk, ice cream, milkshakes and smoothies as well as and strawberry yoghurt.

100 grams of strawberries contains approximately 33 kilocalories. Steawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C and a good source of manganese.

Strawberries also contain a small amount of essential unsaturated fatty acids found in their achene (seed) oil.
